Back when Boston Dynamics got started back in the 1980's they were focused on the mechanics of movement in robots that mimicked leg motion. They have been working at the problem for a while now and the progress they have made is pretty crazy impressive. Oh, and even though these robots can open doors, as I've shared before here on this blog, no need to worry so long as you have rounded knob door handles as opposed to lever door handles. I still haven't seen a robot that can handle those consistently.
