I woke up this morning 2 minutes before my 4 am alarm would have gone off. According to my Strava, it has been since the 1st of December that I was out riding in the 5 o'clock hour and the 9th of November that I was riding in the 4 o'clock hour. Either ice, sickness, or travel (or all three) have kept me from the early morning workouts. Today, however, I was out the door by 4:25 am and thoroughly enjoying the silent hum of road tires in top gear.
Truthfully, I don't know of a more relaxing and enjoyable way to start the day than riding 36 miles through stillness on a too-warm-this-can't-really-be-February morning.
I guess the only way to end a day that started like today was for a nighttime run. When Ann got home she wanted to go out but knew it was going to be a while before the kids were down. She didn't really feel like running alone, so invited me along to join her. It was nice to go out running together.
I'm more than happy to workout anytime – before sunrise, after sunset, or anywhere in between.
